Romantic, elegant, and timeless— three words that come to mind as we admire the images from this couple’s big day! Designed around a literary theme, Kristin and Alex’s wedding is a true reflection of their 17-year-long love story. Every detail of their beautiful Hudson Valley celebration reflected their personalities to a T.

Kristin wore Martina Liana Style 1075, a classic lace A-line gown she discovered during her wedding dress shopping trip to Kleinfeld Bridal. She paired it with a purple cascading bouquet for a classic bridal look. The groom matched the bride’s vibe with a traditional black and white tux.

Every element of their big day was carefully curated, and the result was a wedding day filled with precious moments. Nelson Malta from Drawlines Studio worked their magic behind the camera, and below are some pretty highlights of the of the couple’s big day.

Tell Us About Your Proposal!

We met at work and have been together for 17 years. We have a 15-year-old son together, so we had lots of time to prepare for this moment. He proposed on the roof deck of our building at midnight — just the two of us, after a night out. It was perfect!

Describe Your Bridal Style. How did you Want to Look on Your Wedding Day? Tell us About Your Dress-Shopping Experience.

I wanted to feel like an elevated version of myself. It was very important to me that I looked as natural as possible while still being glamorous. My dress, Martina Liana Style 1075, did exactly that!

I knew it was the one when my best friend cried as soon as I walked out of the dressing room wearing it — and it takes a lot to make her cry! This wedding gown made me feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day and totally ready to marry my husband. His face lit up when I walked down the aisle!

Tell us More About Your Wedding. What Were Your Theme and Colors? How did you Make Your Wedding Personal to Your Love Story?

We truly wanted our wedding to reflect who we are as individuals and as a couple— and above all, wanted the focus just on us. We didn’t have a bridal party or many of the normal traditions, but we did have literary-themed tables and other personal touches.

We opted for authors and quotes instead of numbered tables and personalized bookmarks as place cards and favors. Our signature drink was a French 75, and we chose beef bourguignon as one of our entrees because we love all things French.

We are a big soccer family, too, so our recessional song was the Champions League theme song. My grandmother, who passed away when I was 16, loved calla lilies, so we had them everywhere in her honor.

Cheers to Kristin + Alex!

Shopping for your wedding dress is undoubtedly one of THE most exciting parts of wedding planning! Despite all the fun of saving bridal gown inspo on TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest – it can feel overwhelming if you’re not 100% sure when and where to start.

Your wedding dress is not just a piece of clothing — it’s a symbol of your love story, your individuality and the beginning of your happily ever after. It will hold a special place in your heart and in the hearts of everyone who witnesses your big day. Starting your wedding planning on a fun and fashionable note will help motivate you to cross off those additional to-dos!

Amidst the joy and anticipation, it’s easy to underestimate the importance of having a well-planned wedding dress shopping timeline. Sticking to the timeline will help limit stress by having enough time to order your dress and schedule alterations. By avoiding the last-minute dress search, you avoid compromising your vision or exceeding your budget. Luckily for you, we’ve created your wedding dress shopping timeline below so you can start planning the appointment of your dreams!

When is the Best Time to Start Looking for a Wedding Dress

If you’re wondering when to start looking for a wedding dress, the best time is around the 12-to-18-month mark. This is a great time to begin curating design inspiration, researching boutiques and formulating your budget. It is best to have an idea of the season and location in which you want to get married, as these factors will affect the look you are going for. Around the 10-to-12-month mark, you’ll begin to shop!

You don’t want to shop too far in advance or before choosing your venue and date because you’ll miss out on the latest trends or may purchase a dress that doesn’t match your season or venue. For example, slinky sheath dresses are trending, and while beautiful, you may not want to wear one down the aisle if you get married in a grand ballroom in the winter.

Understanding the Wedding Gown Shopping Timeline

Wedding dress shopping is an exhilarating journey, but a process that demands careful planning and consideration. The wedding gown shopping timeline can vary depending on a range of factors. This includes how long your engagement is, if you’re having a destination wedding and if your gown is off the rack or made to order. Let’s explore the average wedding dress shopping timeline and the key stages involved in the shopping process.

12 to 18 Months Before the Wedding: Initial Research and Inspiration

The early stages of wedding dress shopping involve researching styles, designers and trends. You can browse bridal magazines and social media to gather inspiration to bring to your appointment. Consider your budget, venue and overall wedding theme, as these factors will influence your dress choice.

10 to 12 Months Before the Wedding: First Appointments

You should start booking appointments at bridal boutiques, ideally a year before your wedding. Early appointments allow you to explore different styles and silhouettes before committing to the one.

8 to 10 Months Before the Wedding: Decision Time

By this point, you should have a clearer idea of your preferred bridal style. Now is the time to decide on your wedding dress and place your order. Remember to consider the delivery timeline, especially for custom gowns.

6 to 8 Months Before the Wedding: Accessorizing

Once you’ve chosen your bridal gown, it’s time to think about accessories like veils, shoes and jewelry. You want to ensure you have enough time to browse and order the pieces if they aren’t in stock.

3 Months Before the Wedding: First Fitting

Three months before is the ideal time to begin the wedding dress fitting timeline and schedule your first fitting. This fitting is crucial in ensuring any necessary alterations are identified and planned. Each seamstress or boutique may have varying policies, so factor that into your wedding dress alteration timeline.

6 Weeks Before the Wedding: Second Fitting

Schedule your second fitting around six weeks before your wedding. This is for those final tweaks, like adjusting the straps slightly or evening out the hem. Practice walking in your dress and heels to ensure the length is just right (it should barely sweep the floor, and you shouldn’t trip!)

3 Weeks Before the Wedding: Final Touches

In the weeks leading up to your wedding, you’ll need to pick up your dress, make any last-minute alterations and ensure your bridal gown in pristine condition for the big day. Bring a bridesmaid with you to learn how to bustle your dress. Once at home, store your dress properly to prevent wrinkles and damage.

How Long Does It Take to Buy a Wedding Dress?

The process of purchasing a wedding dress typically occurs between the 8- and 10-month mark prior to the wedding. Of course, the more time, the better!

Since most brides are wedding dress shopping for the first time, it’s easy to assume bridal shops stock every designer and style in sizes 0-36 — but that’s not the case! Not all bridal shops have every plus size sample in store, so be sure to do your research ahead of time to ensure they have gowns that interest you! The EveryBody/EveryBride store locator is a great place to start in looking for your dream plus size wedding dress, as it’ll help identify bridal salons that carry what you’re looking for.

It takes about 4-6 months to order the dress, then another three months to complete alterations, so give yourself plenty of time to work with your retailer.

Note that when you find THE dress, you’ll pay for it at that point. Bridal shops may charge you the full price then or take a deposit (roughly sixty percent) and request the rest upon pick up. Here are a few of our top tips to stay on track with your wedding dress purchase timeline:

  • Start Early: Begin your dress shopping journey on time. This early start gives you more flexibility and choices.
  • Book Appointments in Advance: Schedule appointments at bridal boutiques well in advance. Many boutiques require appointments, especially on weekends, and may book up quickly.
  • Stay Organized: Use a wedding planning calendar or app to stay organized and track your dress shopping appointments, fittings and deadlines.

Wedding Dress Shopping Checklist

There are a few tips, tricks and tasks to help you have a productive, successful and fun appointment!

  • Set a Budget: Determine your wedding dress budget and stick to it. Consider additional costs for alterations, accessories and taxes.
  • Create a Vision Board: Gather inspiration from magazines, TikTok, Pinterest and wedding websites to define your preferred dress style, silhouette and overall look. You’ll also want to take your venue into consideration as you gather inspo!
  • Choose Your Shopping Squad: Select a few trusted friends or family members to accompany you to dress appointments. Keep the group small to avoid too many opinions.
  • Book Appointments: Schedule appointments at bridal boutiques well in advance, considering the availability of your preferred boutiques and travel time. It is best to limit the number of appointments in a single day.
  • Undergarments: Wear appropriate undergarments, such as a nude strapless bra and seamless underwear, to your appointments. This will help you visualize how dresses will look on your wedding day.
  • Eat Something Before and Hydrate: Trying on dresses can be fun, yet hard work! Make sure to eat something and hydrate before to feel your best, especially if you are squeezing multiple appointments into a single day. You can check out even more self-care tips for brides here.

Wedding Dress Purchasing Tips and Tricks

Once you’ve made it to your appointment, here are a few things to remember to make the wedding dress buying process go smoothly. Think of this as our buying a wedding dress guide!

Be Open-Minded: While we did say to curate wedding dress inspiration to bring to your appointment, make sure you keep an open mind. It isn’t uncommon for brides to change their wedding dress vision after trying on a few gowns. Trust your bridal consultant if they pull a dress that is out of the box. It may just be the one for you!

Be Honest with Your Consultant: Be honest with your consultant about your budget, how many gowns you’ve tried on and your preferences. The last thing you want to do is try on a dress outside your price range and fall in love or have an appointment that doesn’t end in progress or success!

Look at the Dress from All Angles: On your wedding day, your photographer will be snapping away, and your guests will see you from all angles. It’s always a good idea to make sure you are viewing your wedding dress from all angles before you decide it’s the one.

Step Off the Pedestal: A pedestal can add about six inches to your height, changing how a dress appears to fit. For more accurate proportions, we recommend stepping off the pedestal. In addition, make sure to walk and sit in the gown to see if it is comfortable and easy to move around while wearing.

Focus on the Fit: You’ve probably heard it before, but there’s truth to the saying that “it’s all about the fit.” It doesn’t matter whether you love a dress with lace, beading or tulle. If the fit isn’t right, it just won’t work. On your wedding day, you will want to feel your best without fidgeting or constantly adjusting your dress.

Do Your Hair and Makeup: No need to go full glam for your bridal appointments (unless that’s your thing!) but putting on a little makeup and wearing your hair similar to how you think you would wear it can help you visualize yourself in each dress, walking down the aisle.

Wedding Dress Shopping Experience: What to Expect

If you’re curious about how your appointment will go, here is a standard appointment timeline!

  1. Warm Welcome: A friendly consultant will greet you upon arriving at the bridal boutique. They will make you feel comfortable and welcome.
  2. Consultation: The consultant will sit down with you to discuss your wedding plans, including the date, venue, theme and overall vision. They’ll ask about your style preferences and any specific details you’re looking for in a dress.
  3. Budget Discussion: You’ll discuss your budget for the wedding dress, including any additional costs for alterations and accessories. It’s important to be clear about your budget to avoid trying on dresses that are out of your price range.
  4. Choosing Dresses: Based on your preferences and budget, the consultant will select a variety of wedding dresses for you to try on. They’ll guide you through the selection process, explaining the details and features of each gown.
  5. Trying on Dresses: You’ll then go to a fitting room to try on the selected dresses. The consultant will help you into each dress, ensuring a proper fit.
  6. Evaluating the Dresses: As you try on each dress, take your time to evaluate how it feels, how it complements your figure and how well it aligns with your vision. Share your thoughts and feelings with the consultant and be honest about what you like and dislike about each gown. This feedback helps the consultant refine their selections.
  7. Narrowing Down Choices: Gradually, you’ll narrow down your choices to a few favorites. The consultant may also provide additional suggestions based on your feedback. You may have a “showdown” moment where you compare your top choices. This can help you make a final decision.
  8. Photographs and Notes: Take photos and notes of each dress to help you remember the details and compare your options later. Note the designer, style name or number and any customization options.
  9. Discussion and Feedback: Talk with your consultant about your favorite dresses. They may offer insights and advice to help you make a decision.
  10. Accessory Consideration: Depending on your progress, you may start discussing bridal accessories like veils, shoes, jewelry and hairpieces that complement the dress.
  11. Final Decision: Once you’ve found “the one,” you’ll finalize your decision. The consultant will explain the next steps for ordering the dress, including measurements and delivery timelines.
  12. Celebration: After making your decision, take a moment to celebrate this exciting milestone in your wedding planning journey!
  13. Scheduling Follow-Ups: If needed, schedule follow-up appointments for bridal fittings and alterations to ensure your dress fits like a glove. Remember! This may need to be outsourced, as not all bridal salons offer in-house alterations. However, your bridal stylists should be able to offer trusted recommendations.
  14. Payment and Contract: Review and sign any necessary contracts and make the initial payment or deposit for your dress.
  15. Thanking the Boutique: Before leaving, be sure to thank the bridal boutique and your consultant for their assistance and hospitality.

Remember that the dress shopping experience should be enjoyable and stress-free. Trust your instincts and take your time to find the wedding dress that makes you feel confident, beautiful and ready to walk down the aisle on your special day.

Where to Buy a Wedding Dress and When

The ideal boutiques to shop at have gowns in the style and price point you are looking for. You can find an Essense of Australia retailer near you to get started! Remember, you should begin shopping 8 to 10 months before the big day and stop looking once you’ve found the one!

Factors to Consider When Purchasing a Wedding Dress

Additional factors to consider when purchasing a wedding dress may include the level of formality of the event, style of the venue or wedding theme. Don’t forget to take the season into account, and even the desired color scheme of your bridesmaid dresses. While there are really no rules when it comes to your gown, if you want to align your dress with your wedding day vision, we recommend keeping these things in mind. You can also bring a vision board of your décor and photos of your venue to keep it top of mind for you and your consultant.

Shopping for your wedding dress is a thrilling and symbolic part of your wedding planning. It marks the beginning of your journey toward your dream wedding, reflecting your love story and individuality. In this comprehensive guide, we’ve highlighted the importance of a well-planned wedding dress shopping timeline to ensure you have enough time to order your dress, schedule alterations and avoid last-minute stress.

As you venture into this memorable process, keep an open mind, stay true to your budget and trust your instincts. The wedding dress shopping experience should be enjoyable and stress-free, from the first dress you try on to the final decision. Embrace each step with confidence and excitement, knowing that your wedding dress is not just attire; it symbolizes your love story and the beautiful journey ahead.

After the big day, ask your bridal shop for wedding dress preservation recommendations. You can have it cleaned, boxed and stored for years to come, or you can sell/donate it so it can make another bride’s dream come true.

Now that you have all the knowledge you need, you can find a store near you and book an appointment with us to find the dress of your dreams!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL!

We were on an adventure photo session with a photographer during a hike. It snowed the day before, so the ground and trees were still covered. We hiked down to the biggest waterfall at the state park.

We gave each other a big hug as part of the prompt from the photographer, but then Tyler got down on one knee and proposed. We were both emotional, and the photographer captured the whole thing. It’s so special to  have those photos to reminisce on.

After that, we popped champagne. It started to snow, so we took a few more photos before heading back up. We then went to a nice restaurant in town for dinner, where Tyler surprised me by having our best friends there waiting for us.

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE. HOW DID YOU WANT TO LOOK ON YOUR WEDDING DAY? TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS-SHOPPING EXPERIENCE.

My bridal style was classic and romantic, with a touch of whimsical. My shopping experience was busy. I wanted to see all the possible wedding gown options, so I visited several boutiques and tried on many dresses.

I had thought I would like an A-line dress because that is the style I am usually comfortable with wearing, but Silk Bridal had me try on a more fitted gown, and it felt so right. I was still unsure of the dress design, so they brought in a few more fitted dresses for me to try. I fell in love with Essense of Australia Style D3063 because it had the details I wanted. It has a gorgeous back and train, buttons and a few appliqués.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING. WHAT WERE YOUR THEME AND COLORS? HOW DID YOU MAKE YOUR WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOUR LOVE STORY?

The theme was classic and romantic, with a hint of whimsical — which matched the style of my wedding dress perfectly. The color palette was centered around pastel hues, and it included dusty lavender, blush, sage green, navy, white and gold. We made our wedding personal by having fun fact napkins about us and custom Chinese wedding guest cloth. Incorporating our dog was important to us, so we customized drink stirrers with our dog on them and had a figurine of our dog on our wedding cake.

WHAT WAS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM THAT DAY?

The most special memory from the day was our first look. I was so nervous and stressed all morning, but as soon as I saw Tyler for our first look, all those feelings dissipated, and I felt so comfortable and calm. We read our private vows to one another, and it was so intimate and meaningful. It was lovely to have that moment together by ourselves because it was like we were finally together to continue through the rest of the busy day.

Ireland takes picturesque to a whole new level, and after seeing this wedding — we’re convinced it’s one of the prettiest spots in the world for weddings. Ripe with timeless style, a beautiful couple who are head over heels in love and that token Ireland greenery, this destination wedding is one for the books.

Looking for a wedding dress style opposite to what she fell in love with, Jasmine found the one in a stunning lace Martina Liana bridal gown. She visited Kleinfeld Bridal, seeking an unforgettable dress-shopping experience.

Jasmine and Niall’s wedding day was beautiful and authentic — you can feel a sense of quiet joy and restrained elegance through every image. Padraic Fallon captured this Ireland celebration at Loughrea Hotel and Spa, and you can see it all below!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL!

Niall took me for a weekend away to the Crystal Springs resort in New Jersey, where we had a wine-tasting and seven-course meal planned at a Michelin-star restaurant. I thought it was fancy but didn’t think too much about it. While getting ready for dinner, I came out of the hotel room to see champagne and strawberries on the terrace — That’s when I knew something was up!

When I sat down on the terrace, Niall was pacing. He sits down and says, “You know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, right?” I said, “Yes, I do, too.” He just looked at me, got up, and walked back inside! He came back outside, sat back down and said, “I need to ask you something,” got down on his knee and asked me to marry him!

WHAT WAS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM THE DAY?

I think the most special memory of the day WAS the pure joy that was in the room that day! Everyone was so happy, and you could truly feel the love in the air — an absolute dream come true!

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE. HOW DID YOU WANT TO LOOK ON YOUR WEDDING DAY? TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE.

I had the most amazing wedding dress shopping experience at Kleinfeld Bridal from beginning to end! It was my first time trying on dresses, and my mom figured we should go to Kleinfeld’s because we are such big fans of their “Say Yes to the Dress” show. I just so happened to have a great experience AND find my dream wedding gown.

One style I didn’t think I wanted to wear for my wedding was strapless. The bridal stylist who helped us was so friendly, and when she took me to the back, the first dress she pulled was a strapless, lace Martina Liana wedding gown with a sheer back. I thought, “Okay, I’m here to try things on— Let’s just see.” When I put that dress on, I felt the most beautiful I’ve ever felt in my entire life.

It was the dress I had been dreaming about since I was a little girl, and I almost passed it up because it was strapless. I tried on other gowns after, but none could compare! It was exactly what I wanted — elegant, classy, a little sexy and the perfect amount of sparkle. I felt like a true fairytale princess!

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING. WHAT WERE YOUR THEME AND COLORS? HOW DID YOU MAKE YOUR WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOUR LOVE STORY?

My husband was born and raised in a small town in Ireland and moved to the United States seven years ago. We went back to his hometown to have our wedding.

My background is Puerto Rican, so when my family traveled to celebrate, we had an amazing mix of cultures that added a little spice to the Irish weddings! Our families that were meeting for the first time were also becoming family for a lifetime, and that was the most special part.

Ireland in the summer is like the U.S. northeast coast in the spring or fall, so we had mauve tones and greenery. The ceremony and reception were both at the Loughrea Hotel and Spa, and our day-two celebration, traditional for Irish weddings, was held at Charlie’s Pub in Loughrea!

Cheers to Jasmine + Niall!

Amber’s bridal dreams came true in elegant, flowy  Essense of Austalia Style D2971, with cupcakes and a dreamy sunset. Join us for this stunning celebration of their love!

AMBER, TELL US ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY

We met in my hometown, Bozeman, Montana, when I was 18 and he was 20 years old, working at a physical therapy clinic. I was playing volleyball and going to physical therapy. I went off to college to play basketball but transferred back to my hometown college after a semester. I got a job working at the front desk at the physical therapy clinic, where my now-husband was a strength coach. Working together, our relationship blossomed.

The proposal was a total surprise to me! I was graduating with my bachelor’s degree and he was graduating with hismaster’s degree, so I wanted to do a graduation photo shoot. Up in the mountains toward Big Sky, Montana, he proposed at the beginning of the photo shoot. Our graduation photography shoot turned into an engagement shoot and the photographer ended up also being our wedding photographer.

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE

I went into my bridal appointment with my mind made up that I was going to wear a tight trumpet or mermaid wedding dress.  I tried on about ten dresses that were the styles I had envisioned, and nothing seemed to feel right. I asked my stylist for an A-line gown, and she pulled out Essense of Australia Style D2971 — it was perfect!

Before I tried it on, I knew it was going to be the one. It featured straps, a long train, not too much bling and no tulle, which I never really liked. My dress was the perfect balance of simple, elegant and fun. To complete the look, I wore a long veil, which was very important to me!

In addition, I wore my great grandmother’s pearl earrings and had daisies in my bouquet. Daisies were meaningful to me because they were used in my great grandmother’s, grandmother’s and mother’s wedding bouquets.Justin, on the other hand, wore his grandfather’s cuff links, as well as a pocket watch that was passed down in his family.

On our wedding day, my dress fit like a glove and was so comfortable! This was so important because we were getting married on top of a mountain, so it was hot and rocky. Our wedding venue was open to tourists before the wedding started, so there were people milling around looking at the views. It sounds cliché, but when I was walking with my photographer for the first look, a little girl who was with her mom told me I looked like a princess – a bride’s dream!

TELL US MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING

Justin and I knew we wanted to have an outdoor wedding in Montana because of the scenery. We chose Whitefish Mountain Resort because it’s beautiful and a place we can always go back to visit.

Our bachelorette and bachelor parties were the week before the wedding. Most of our bridal party was from out of town, so we didn’t want to have them pay for multiple trips. The groomsmen took it upon themselves to wear speedos all week. At the wedding, they all wore them under their suits, but eventually, into the night, they were only wearing the speedos — it was a blast!

I feel like this is more common now, but we bought one small cutting cake from the grocery store and then hired Sugar Happy Bakery to make cupcakes and macarons for the guests to eat.

For our first look, Justin was crying before he saw me! When I touched his shoulder, heturnedaroundand just hugged me and told me how beautiful I looked.

Wedding dresses are always the star of the bridal look, but accessories often enhance it by adding that extra “wow” factor! There is perhaps no accessory more fitting than the bridal veil when it comes to wedding dresses. Originally worn to protect the bride from evil spirits, bridal veils are now a major fashion statement and come in a variety of lengths and styles. Continue reading to see some of our favorite wedding dresses and their matching bridal veils for the ultimate wedding fashion inspiration.

Does Your Bridal Veil Have to Match Your Wedding Dress?

Yes and no! If you prefer a cohesive look, a matching bridal veil is the way to go. For example, if you’re wearing a lace wedding dress, a veil with matching lace is always a stunning option.  However, your veil can complement your bridal gown without matching exactly. You can use a veil to add detail to a simple gown, for example a pearl-embellished wedding veil pairs beautifully with a sleek satin gown. Think about adding matching pearl gloves to complete the look, too!

What Types of Veils Do You Suggest for Brides?

There are so many styles of bridal veils to choose from! From the vintage style birdcage veil to the long and dramatic cathedral veil, there is a length and look for every bride. We suggest brides follow their bridal vision by finding veils that pair with wedding dresses of their choice and elevate their personal style.

How to Choose Your Bridal Veil?

We recommend choosing a veil that matches or complements your wedding dress in embellishments and color, while still fitting with your venue and wedding vibe. A short veil is typically seen at courthouse or outdoor weddings. A long veil is stunning for a long walk down the aisle in a church or venue.

It’s also good to consider your wedding day hairstyle and the price range you want to stay within. Above all, choose a veil that makes you feel your most beautiful and bride-like!

Accentuating every curve, the flawless fit-and-flare silhouette hugs the figure through the hips before flaring into a sleek matte lace train. This glamorous gown is also available in plus sizes. From black wedding dresses to short bridal gowns, non-traditional styles come in all shapes and sizes to suit any bride’s personal style.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL!

I met my now husband in high school. We’ve been together for a whole decade, and we finally got married this year! When he proposed, it was super romantic and a total surprise.

At first, I thought the proposal was actually just going to be a birthday party for me, since he proposed on my birthday in 2021. However, he had planned to propose in front of all my friends and family. He and some friends set up all the decor, and they were all there ready to surprise me. I was shocked when it turned into a proposal.

I fell in love with Essense of Australia Style D3023 from the moment I saw it online. When I finally tried it on, it was love at first sight. It has a very boho vibe but still gives off an elegant feel, which was the perfect vibe for our destination beach wedding in Cancun, Mexico. I wanted to feel and look like a princess on my special day, and this dress made me look and feel exactly like one. The train really topped it off as I walked down the aisle on the beach. I felt so beautiful in this wedding dress, and my husband was in love with it too. When we had our first look, he looked in awe when he saw me in my dress for the first time.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING. WHAT WERE YOUR THEME AND COLORS? HOW DID YOU MAKE YOUR WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOUR LOVE STORY?

We had our dream wedding on the beaches of Cancun at the Finest Playa Mujeres resort, and it was beautiful. The icing on the cake was being surrounded by all our friends and family. I always knew I wanted a beach wedding when I was young, and I still can’t believe my husband and I made it happen together.

It was important to us to incorporate little details here and there to make our wedding feel personal. For instance, we had a money gun for our entrance with fake dollar bills with our cat’s face on it. We also had a custom printout of our favorite video game character dressed in a wedding dress and suit on our guest signing board.

The most special memory that was worth every penny on our special day was the fireworks at the end of the night. It was a surprise for our guests, and it truly made our wedding that much more special.

Our first dance was also very memorable, as we practiced for two months before the wedding. When it came time to finally have our first dance, my husband and I were laughing the whole time expecting to mess up, but we had so much fun and we outperformed ourselves.

What is a Mountain Wedding or Elopement Dress?

A mountain wedding dress is a bridal gown fitted for brides who want to feel at ease and comfortable in their adventure elopement or intimate outdoor ceremony. These dresses are ideal for windy, cold climates and come in various styles that deliver movement of their silhouette and material.
